OFFSHORE SHIPPING ONLINE: First order for CargoMaxx multi-purpose tank systemNews - February 25, 2008 The first CargoMaxx system will be fitted on a Havyard 832 CD RS.
CargoMaxx has signed its first order for the new, multi-purpose cargo system it has develoed for offshore supply vessels.
The vessel owner is Simon Mokster in Norway, and the shipyard is Simek, Norway, hull 121. The vessel design is a Havyard 832 CD RS.
In the CargoMaxx concept traditional dedicated cargo tanks for dedicated cargoes are replaced with a flexible cargo tank solution.
Traditionally dedicated tanks for liquid mud, dry bulk, brine, base oil, fuel oil, methanol are used. This results in relatively small volume cargo tanks divided into 10-20 (depending type and size of vessel) separate tanks.
CargoMaxx replaces all of these cargo tanks with CargoMaxx tanks, a design which the company says gives higher flexibility and a higher payload (greater cargo tank volume).
"This results into an average 20 per cent more payload and full flexibility of all used cargoes," said CargoMaxx.
CargoMaxx is a joint venture between Van Aalst Marine & Offshore (The Netherlands) and Kleven Marine (US) with partners Allweiler (Norway) and Putzmeister (Germany).
The system is suitable for the following type of cargoes:
• Liquid mud, base oil • Brine, glycol, fuel oil, methanol • Dry bulk such as cement, barite and bentonite
This can be extended to include: return mud; drill cuttings; ORO (Oil Recovery Operation); compliance with NOFO 2005.
